The Arlington is a 518-unit townhome-style condo community near Shirlington, built in 1950 along Walter Reed Drive South, 28th Street South, and Wakefield Street South. It’s one of the largest townhome communities in all of Arlington.

The pool and tennis court combination is a strong package for a townhome community — it gives The Arlington a resort-like quality that most communities of this type and era can’t match. The campus layout provides tree-lined streets and a neighborhood-within-a-neighborhood feel.

There’s no Metro within walking distance, but the Shirlington area provides good bus connections and easy access to I-395. Shirlington Village’s restaurants, shops, and theaters are nearby. At 518 units, The Arlington has the scale to maintain premium shared amenities while keeping individual fees manageable. It’s one of South Arlington’s most established and recognizable condo communities.
